New Delhi, May 27 (PTI): The National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) and the Centre today reached an agreement to extend the ongoing ceasefire by another six months.
“The memorandum of suspension (of operations) for another six months has been signed between the government and the NDFB,” a Union home ministry official said.
The accord was signed by special secretary (internal security) in the home ministry S. Rajagopal and NDFB general secretary G. Basumatary here after detailed talks between the two sides.
The fresh agreement will come into force from June 1.
Court order: Gauhati High Court today directed the Centre and the Assam government to furnish affidavits within three weeks with regard to a PIL filed over certain demands of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community.
