Big victory for CPT

Calcutta Port Trust outplayed Khalsa Blues 5-1 in a 110 th all-India Beighton Cup hockey match at the CC&FC on Wednesday.

Yusuf Bhengra, Rajaravi Das, Mukti Prasad Toppo, Sukhen Saha and Jonas Bara scored for CPT while Amardeep Singh netted one for Khalsa.

State meet

The 40th state chess championship organised by WBCA will commence at the Salt lake Stadium on Saturday. Around 200 players are expected to take part in the meet, containing a total prize money of Rs 24,100.

Basketball

Calcutta Port Trust beat Police AC 'A' 88-76 in division I basketball league match at the WBBA courts on Wednesday. CPT's Amar Swarnakar was the top scorer with 24 points.

CPSU soccer

North Eastern Electric Power Corporation will meet Bhakra Beas Management Board in the final of the fifth inter-Central public sector undertakings football meet.
