As a prelude to the 4th EU-India Summit being held today in New Delhi, the EU member states and accession countries, in collaboration with ICCR and the Delegation of the European Commission, are staging 14 major cultural shows as part of EU Cultural Weeks in the capital as well as five other cities in India. ‘United in Diversity’ is the motto of the on-going celebration. This evening’s show (the third on its Calcutta leg) features Chamber Orchestra Concert by Germany’s Linos Ensemble, founded in 1977 by Klaus Becker. Its members, then at the end of their musical studies and at the beginning of their professional careers, are now professors at leading music schools or in top positions at leading German orchestras. The main focus of their work is chamber music in various formations. The ensemble comprises five wind instruments, five string instruments and a piano. The repertoire encompasses well over 80 complete works from trio to chamber symphony, from Bach to Stockhausen.
