Wipro on the prowl
New Delhi, Nov. 6: Wipro today said it is open to more acquisitions to strengthen its consumer-care business. This announcement follows Wipro’s acquisition of Glucovita brand from Hindustan Lever last year. The company would also actively look at expansion of a host of its brands, its consumer care and lighting business president Vineet Agrawal said launching architectural lighting range here.
London, Nov. 6: ICICI Bank launched its UK operations today with a wholly-owned banking subsidiary offering a range of products targeted at corporations and high net worth individuals. It has also formed a partnership with Lloyds TSB plc, a leading UK-based financial group.
New Delhi, Nov. 6: Robust corporate earnings pushed up direct tax collections by 19 per cent to Rs 38,759 crore till October this year compared with Rs 32,674 crore during April-October 2002.

Ispat Intl loss
London, Nov. 6: Ispat International NV, owned by L. N. Mittal, today reported a net loss of $10 million for the third quarter of 2003 compared with a net profit of $26 million in the year-ago period.
