Nov. 4: Commercial vehicles maker Eicher Motors has said that its net profit fell by 22.8 per cent for the quarter ended September 30, 2003 as its vehicles sales were affected by a strike at a key component supplier.
The net profit went down to Rs 9.15 crore during the July-September quarter from Rs 11.86 crore in the year-ago period.
Gross sales remained almost flat at Rs 182.99 crore during the reporting quarter against Rs 184.09 crore in the same period last year, a company statement said. Net profit for the first six months this fiscal slipped 11.5 per cent to Rs 15.24 crore from Rs 17.23 crore last year. Gross sales during the period under review were, however, higher by 11.4 per cent at Rs 356.79 crore over Rs 320.23 crore year-on-year.
Dabur net up
Dabur India Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 53.46 crore for the half-year ended September 30, 2003 compared with Rs 41.81 crore in the corresponding period last year. Total income increased from Rs 588.91 crore last year to Rs 641.33 crore in the reporting period.
The group has posted a net profit of Rs 55.37 crore in the first half of this fiscal and a total income of Rs 718.14 crore.
Gujarat NRE shines
Gujarat NRE Coke Limited, manufacturers of low ash metallurgical coke, has registered an 82.20 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 5.63 crore during the quarter ended September 30, 2003 compared with Rs 3.09 crore posted during the same period last fiscal. Net sales from operations have gone up by 13.73 per cent to Rs 40.66 crore as against Rs 35.75 crore.
Tinplate net jumps
The Tinplate Company of India Limited has reported a profit after tax of Rs 9 crore during the first half of 2003-04 compared with Rs 43 lakh recorded during the corresponding period last year. The company’s production and sales during the period increased by 11 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively, over the corresponding figures last year.
Tata Metaliks gains
Tata Metaliks, another Tata group company, has reported a 91.50 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 9.69 crore for the half-year ended September 30, 2003 as against Rs 5.06 crore in the same period last year. The company’s total revenue, net of excise, grew by 23 per cent to Rs 67.47 crore during the reporting period. Income from operations, net of excise duty, for the second quarter rose by 42 per cent to Rs 36.11 crore as against Rs 25.48 crore in the year-ago period.
Linc Pen net up 63%
Linc Pen has registered a 62.65 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 1.22 crore for the second quarter ended September compared with Rs 75 lakh reported in the year-ago period. The company clocked Rs 22.65 crore sales for the reporting quarter as against Rs 17.57 crore year-on-year.
