Calcutta: Mohammedan Sporting beat Tollygunge Agragami 3-0 in the All-Airlines Gold Cup football tournament in Haldia on Thursday.
Nigerian striker John Ugwu, Dipendu Biswas and Syed Rahim Nabi were the scorers, according to information received here. The first half ended goalless.
Ugwu put Mohammedan Sporting ahead with a powerful left-footer midway through the second session. Dipendu then struck following a pass from Abdul Rouf Khan. Nabi put the finishing touches, capitalising on a free-kick by Ugwu.
Mohammedan Sporting’s Momocha Singh suffered a shin bone injury and was shifted to a city nursing home later.
Tollygunge’s Akeem Abolanle was also admitted to a hospital after he crashed into the billboards on the sidelines.
Thais beat India
Meanwhile, in Bangkok, the Thailand national team defeated India 2-0 in a preparatory match for the forthcoming Afro-Asian Games in Bangkok on Thursday.
According to information received here, the teams were locked goalless at the breather.
The Indians were earlier held goalless by an under-23 Thailand side.
