Vinod clinches ‘double’
Vinod Kumar Sewa clinched a ‘double’ winning the men’s singles and doubles titles in the Calcutta hardcourt tennis championships at South Club on Sunday. Vinod beat brother Manoj 6-1, 6-1 and then teamed up with Saurav Sukul to win the doubles title. In ladies singles final, Priyanka Parekh beat Ragini Vimal 6-4, 6-0.
OTHER FINALS: Boys’ U-18: Nirvick Mohinta bt Arpit Sharma 6-3, 6-0. Veterans’ doubles: Satyajeet Burman & Dilip Kumar bt B. Mullick & S. Kar 6-0, 6/2. Parent & child handicap doubles: Sourav & Dilip Chowdhury bt Ayush & Pradip Bajoria 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Arup in final
Arup Basak will meet Santanu Majumder in the men’s singles final of the Kacchu Mukherjee memorial table tennis championship. In the semi-finals on Sunday, Arup beat Sourav Pradhan 11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-3 while Santanu got past Niloy Basak 11-4, 11-6, 11-6, 7-11, 7-11, 8-11, 11-4. Meanwhile, Runa Roy and Mousumi Karar made the women’s final beating Agamani Mitra and Jaita Pushilal.
