House burgled at gunpoint

Armed dacoits raided a businessman’s flat in the Karaya police station area late on Friday and went on a looting spree. They broke open the cupboard and almirah at gunpoint and decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh. No one has been arrested.

According to police, the incident occurred in the apartment of S.K. Agarwal.

“Three women were home when a gang of four pressed the calling bell. One of them opened the door,” said an officer of Karaya police station.

Three of the miscreants tied all three women and locked them in a room, while another goon stood guard at the entrance. The gangsters warned the women not to raise an alarm. In about 10 minutes, the gang finished its operation and walked out.

According to police, the robbery was committed with the help of Agarwal’s domestic help and a local youth, both of whom are absconding.

“The gangsters had specific information about where the valuables were kept in the house. We are sending teams to the ancestral house of the domestic help,” said a police officer.
