Calcutta: As was expected, left-arm quick Ashish Nehra has not been picked for next month’s Challenger tournament. Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh, both of whom are also recovering from injuries, have not been picked either.
The Challenger will be held in Bangalore from September 10-14. The three sides in the competition will be led by Sourav Ganguly (India Senior), Anil Kumble (India A) and Rahul Dravid (India B).
Nehra’s exclusion, specially, is a strong pointer towards his being rested for the two-Test home series against New Zealand — that this is likely was reported in The Telegraph last week.
The left-arm quick, it may be recalled, is recovering from surgery on his right ankle.
