Calcutta, Aug. 22: The employees of the Dakshineswar factory of Wimco ended their 25-day strike this morning, reports our special correspondent.
The company has informed Bombay Stock Exchange about the employees’ decision.
The Citu-affiliated Wimco Mazdoor Union had called the strike to protest the management’s decision to retrench workers at the factory on the fringes of Calcutta.
Both Citu and Intuc decided to end the strike after chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee intervened. The factory employs about 1,000 people.
