Dortmund: Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand sustained his winning momentum to score a 46-move victory over Hungarian GM Peter Leko in the sixth round of the Category 18 Sparkassen chess meet on Wednesday.
The win left Anand in the third place with three points — behind Viktor Bologan and Vladimir Kramnik.
Anand had got off to a nightmarish start, losing to Teimour Radjabov in the second round and Bologan in the third. He was held by Leko in the opener.
Moldova’s Bologan extended his dominance with a scorching 36-move win over home favourite Arkadi Naiditsch, who lost to Anand on Tuesday.
Bologan now has five points, well ahead of the second-placed Kramnik, who ahs 3.5 points. The Russian GM, ranked second in thw world, drew with Radjabov in 23 moves.
The 16-year old seemed to be happy to accept the peace treaty following his loss to Naiditsch in the previous round. (PTI)
