London: South African skipper Graeme Smith described his team’s performance as “fantastic” after they crushed England by an innings and 92 runs on the fourth day of the second Test at Lord’s on Sunday.
The win gave the Proteas a 1-0 lead in the five-match series with three to play.
“It was a fantastic team performance. The batting was superb and the bowlers did really well. They put in the hard work and were very disciplined,” said Smith, whose 259 was the foundation of his side’s huge first innings total of 682 for six declared.
“We will celebrate tonight but be humble tomorrow.”
Smith and fast bowler Makhaya Ntini shared the Man of the Match award after the paceman became the first South African to take ten wickets in a Lord’s Test match. (AFP)
