Steel becomes costlier

New Delhi, July 30: Steel Authority of India Ltd and other producers have increased the steel prices in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 1,200 per tonne. Buoyed by upsurge in demand, other leading steel producers too have increased prices in various categories of products, including HR coil. While SAIL, Tata, Ispat and Jindal Vijaynagar have effected a hike today, Essar is expected to do it tomorrow, industry sources said.

Telecom fee

New Delhi, July 30: The controversial interconnect user charge is likely to be further delayed as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has sought to examine the flow of traffic pattern after the IUC was introduced as an interim measure.

WTO stand

New Delhi, July 30: India has cautioned the WTO members of a backlash in developing countries if the pace of economic reforms is seen to be “forced under dictates from outside”. Disinvestment minister Arun Shourie said this backlash could set back the whole process of multilateral negotiations.

New Delhi, July 30: Maruti Udyog Ltd today announced the appointment of Hindustan Lever chairman Manvinder Singh Banga as the fourth independent director on its board.

New Delhi, July 30: The government said today the Naresh Chandra Committee, set up to suggest further amendments to the Companies Act and the Indian Partnership Act, will submit its second report to the finance minister tomorrow.
