GM Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh defeated IM Adam Hunt of England and shot into sole lead on 4.5 points.
Seven remained half a point behind — GMs Surya Sekhar Ganguly, Abhijit Kunte, Vassilos Kotronias of Cyprus, Paul Motwani of Scotland, Joseph Gallagher of Switzerland, Aaron Summerscale and IM Daniel Gormally of England.
A pack of 12, including S. Vijayalakshmi, GM P. Harikrishna, Tejas Bakre and Swati have 3.5 points each.
IM S. Kidambi lost to Kotronias, while Harikrishna drew with IM Pert Nicholas of England.
Dibyendu Barua beat Stephen Gordon of England. Tejas beat Robert Gwaze of Zimbabwe while Kunte beat Gurpreet Pal Singh.
Vijayalakshmi and Nisha Mohota scored over Englishmen Laurance Webb and David Adams respectively while S. Meenakshi, Aarthie Ramaswamy and Eesha Karavade were involved in draws.
