London: India A moved to an advantageous position on the opening day of their three-dayer against Surrey here on Tuesday.
Amit Bhandari claimed five wickets for 54 as Surrey were bundled out for 173, after electing to bat.
Sridharan Sriram then struck a fine unbeaten 92 as India A closed at 235 for two, 62 runs ahead.
Skipper Shiv Sundar Das scored 74 runs from 97 balls with 12 fours and a six. He put on 48 for the first wicket with Jaffer (21) and 102 for the second with Sriram before falling leg before to Matthew Todd.
Apart from Bhandari, Avishkar Salvi claimed three wickets while L. Balaji and Amit Mishra took one each.
