Usha net profit up 38%

Usha International today said its net profit has jumped 38 per cent to Rs 4.68 crore during 2002-03 from Rs 3.38 crore a year earlier. Gross profit went up by 34 per cent year-on-year to Rs 9.53 crore from Rs 7.13 crore, a company release said. The company's reserves increased to Rs 40.96 crore from Rs 37.04 crore on an equity base of Rs 2.28 crore. Fans contributed 37 per cent of the company’s turnover and sewing machines were the largest contributor to profits.

Sahara outlets

The Sahara India Pariwar has entered the retail business with the inauguration of the first image store at the Sahara Mall, Gurgaon.

Eastern Rail

Eastern Railway has carried a total of 5.517 million tonnes of freight traffic in April and May 2003 compared with 5.002 million tonnes carried during the corresponding period of last year.

SE Railway

South Eastern Railway has carried 11.12 million tonnes of revenue earning freight which is 1.17 million tonnes more than the corresponding previous period thus registering an increase of 11.7 per cent.

SRF Limited

SRF Limited has reported a net profit of Rs 31.89 crore for the year ended 31 March, 2003 against Rs 27.29 crore in the previous year. Net sales for the period was Rs 721 crore against 612 crore achieved in the year 2002. In the fourth quarter (Jan-March 2003), its net profit decreased 44.36 per cent from Rs 10.32 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.

Colour Chem

Colour Chem Ltd has recorded a 65 per cent rise in net profits to Rs 14.97 crore for the year ended March 31, 2003. against Rs 9.06 crore in the previous year. The board has recommended a dividend of 60 per cent from 50 per cent in the previous year.

Tata Power

Tata Power has implemented an integrated automated system module by IT company SAP as part of its initiative to increase its presence in retail distribution and operate in emerging deregulated environment in the country.

Tata Chem

Icra has assigned high safety rating LAA+ to the Rs 125-crore non-convertible debenture issue of Tata Chemicals. The rating reflected the company’s favourable financial position and competitive position in the production of urea, soda ash and iodised salt.

Ruchi Soya net

Ruchi Soya Industries Limited has reported a net profit of Rs 27.35 crore for year ended March 31, 2003, against Rs 25.76 crore in the previous year. Its turnover increased 20 per cent to Rs 3,411 crore from Rs 2,839 crore in the previous year. has tied up with HP India for promoting their range of laser printers for three months.
