New Delhi: The BCCI has got positive response from the Union government regarding the renewal of bilateral ties between India and Pakistan in September.
“The Board is in touch with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, deputy Prime Minister L. K. Advani and sports minister Vikram Verma.
“And we have got positive response from each one of them,” Rajiv Shukla, who is closely connected to the BCCI, said.
“We hope to get a positive reply from the government before September,” Shukla added.
India and Afghanistan on Tuesday agreed to work towards establishing cricket ties and as a first step a BCCI delegation would visit the neighbouring country soon.
Though there are no immediate plan to send teams to each other’s country, the groundwork is being done to ensure ties were established in the near future, Shukla added.
“We have given assurance of our full help and co-operation to Afghanistan as we would like to establish ties with them,” Shukla said after a meeting with Afghanistan cricket officials. Afghanistan is an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council.
