Hyderabad: Bengal’s challenge in the junior national tennis meet ended when top seed Rupesh Roy lost 6-4, 4-6, 4-6 to Andhra Pradesh’s J. Vishnuvardhan in the boys semi-finals here on Friday.
In the second semi-final, third seed Aditya Madkekar of Maharashtra had little difficulty in subduing compatriot Sourab Kohli 6-4, 6-2.
Both the girls’ semi-finals were all-Andhra Pradesh affairs. In the first, P. Meghana came from behind to defeat K. Puja 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 hin a hard-fought encounter. In the other, Punam Reddy brushed aside second seed S. Gangothri 6-4, 6-1.
