Cleveland, May 13 (Agencies): Biswanath Halder, an Indian-American charged with killing a graduate student during a shooting spree at Case Western Reserve University, was ordered held without bond today.
Halder, a native of Calcutta, did not speak during his first court appearance after being charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder.
Municipal court judge Robert Triozzi agreed to a defence request to classify Halder as an inmate with “medical and psychological needs”. Bond (the equivalent of bail in India) because of the nature of the charges and concern for safety of the community. Halder is charged with opening fire inside the university’s business school on Friday. Norman Wallace was killed and two people were wounded.
