New Delhi, May 13 (PTI): India’s cellular subscriber base rose to 1.33 crore in April against 1.26 crore in the previous month, even as monthly addition was down at 6.47 lakh users.
The monthly addition of 6.47 lakh users this month is lower than the addition of over nine lakh users logged in March.
According to the latest subscriber figures released by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) today, the all-India cellular base was 133,35,153 as on April 2003, with monthly additions pegged at 6,47,516.
All metros combined commanded a base of 45.84 lakh in April, up from 44.39 lakh in March.
In Delhi, Bharti cellular increased its subscriber base to 9.38 lakh during the period in reference as compared with 9.02 lakh in March, while the customer base of Hutchison rose to 6.19 lakh in April against 6.05 lakh in March.
The cellular subscriber base of state-owned MTNL, which today announced an increase in the number of free calls for its landline users, was at 1.36 lakh in April.
The subscriber base of Idea cellular seemed to have dipped to 1.63 lakh in April against 1.65 lakh in March, according to the COAI figures.
