Nehra to start training in July

New Delhi: Left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra, who returned home last Saturday, after undergoing knee surgery in Pretoria, will be back in South Africa for a check up next month.

Nehra is on crutches and expected to resume training in late July, his brother said here on Tuesday, adding that he is recuperating well.

“The pain is no more there and Ashish said he is feeling a lot better,” said Nehra’s elder brother Dinkar.

Dinkar said Nehra would again be going to South Africa in mid-May to remove his plaster before taking rest for two months for complete recovery.

“He will be going to South Africa on May 15 and the plasters would be removed on May 19. He will be taking two months rest and expected to be fit to resume playing latest by the end of July,” he said.

Nehra underwent the operation on April 17 on the knee joint that was troubling him since the World Cup and forced him to miss the tri-series in Dhaka.

He also missed the Delhi’s Ranji Trophy semi-final clash against Tamil Nadu which Delhi lost by 132 runs.
