Salgaocar record facile win

Margao: Salgaocar came back to record a fluent 4-2 win over Indian Bank and move to the second spot in the National Football League Thursday, reports PTI.

Sebastiao Endro (52nd), Climax Lawrence (60th, 75th) and substitute Alex Ambrose (76th) scored for Salgaocar after trailing by a goal in the first session.

K. G. Joseph (27th) and J. Ananda Vasan (70th) scored for Indian Bank.

Tomba Singh was a livewire in the midfield for Salgaocar along with Jatin Bist, Climax Lawerence and Dharamjit Singh.

With the win, Salgaocar have 41 points from 21 matches while Indian Bank remain on 20.

A Correspondent adds from New Delhi: Mohammedan Sporting were enlivened in the second half to overcome tenacious Air India (Mumbai) 2-1 in their opening encounter of the second division League final phase.

Two goals in a span of eight minutes by foreign recruits Eugene Grey and Awal Ibrahim enabled the Calcutta league runners-up bag three points. Striker Antony Pereira reduced the margin for Air India in the 70th minute.

After two matches, Haywards 2000 Sporting Clube de Goa and Mohammedan Sporting have three points each and are better placed to qualify. The Goa club has a better goal difference. Both the institutional sides Air India and State Bank of Travancore (SBT) from Thiruvanthapuram have lost their opening matches.

Substitute midfielder L. Akbar Singh, a recruit from Tata Football Academy(TFA) excelled for Mohammedan Sporting.
