Burdwan, March 19: Posing as uncles of two abducted youths, police officials laid a trap and arrested two men when they arrived to collect the ransom, reports our correspondent. Later, they led the sleuths to four colleagues and their hostages. Police claimed it was an inter-state gang of abductors and extortionists operating in south Bengal and Jharkhand.
After the kidnappers demanded Rs 6 lakh to release Nurul and Aminul Mondol, abducted from Lashkarpur village under the Manteswar police station on March 11, their father rushed to the police. They negotiated with the gang as the youths’ uncles and decided on a spot where the ransom would be delivered. Two men were arrested when they came to collect the money. Four others were held from Santipur and the siblings were rescued from Jhitkepota near Krishnagar.
