Bihar raids net more Maoists

Patna, Feb. 28: The special task force today arrested four more Maoists based on fresh information elicited from the eight Maoists rounded up on Wednesday.

They were holed up in houses on the outskirts of Patna. The four have been identified as Dilip Kumar Shah, Raj Narain Yadav, Prakash Kumar and Roshan Rai.

All four are residents of the Terai region of southern Nepal and belong to various frontal organisations of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists).

Dilip is said to be a central committee member of the outfit and Raj Narain is a key member of the outfit’s Sarlahi district committee in Nepal, the police here said.

In the continuing raids on the hideouts of Maoists, the police have seized Rs 2.5 lakh.

According to the police, sympathisers gave the rebels the money to buy sophisticated weapons.

The task force officers have also stumbled upon incriminating documents which “can throw light on the Nepal Maoist-Indian Naxalite nexus, not known to us (police) till recently”.

Among the eight arrested on Wednesday by the Central Intelligence Bureau and the task force at the Patrakar Colony here were Bihar Maoist Communist Centre members.
