New Delhi, Feb. 24 (PTI): A Delhi court today granted custodial parole for five hours to IPS officer R.K. Sharma, prime accused in the murder of Indian Express journalist Shivani Bhatnagar, for his eldest daughter’s engagement.
Additional sessions judge J.M. Malik directed that Sharma be taken to Panchkula, where the ceremony is being held, at 5 pm on March 1 and be brought back at 10 pm on the same day. Sharma’s counsel S.P. Manocha had sought interim bail for the accused.
The court also reserved its order on framing charges against the six murder accused for February 27.
Replying to charges that police had not sent the fingerprints of Shivani’s brother-in-law for forensic examination, special public prosecutor S.K. Saxena said the fingerprints were sent to the Central Forensic Laboratory but did not match those recovered from the crime scene.
