Trai to pull up WiLL operators

New Delhi, Feb. 23: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is likely to seek clarification from WiLL players following allegations by certain consumer entities that some operators were adopting “unfair trade practices” by forcing consumers to buy overpriced handsets exclusively from them or their own vendors. This charge has been countered by WiLL players who argue that there is no such restriction on consumers, although handset brought by them would be activated only if it met system specifications of the network, after testing.

Balmer Lawrie

New Delhi, Feb. 23: An inter-ministerial group on disinvestment of Balmer Lawrie is expected to meet next month to clear the draft share-purchase document for privatisation of the company.

British Gas bid

New Delhi, Feb. 23: British Gas is in talks with Romanian state firm, Petrom, to buy its 51 per cent stake in an oil and gas block offshore Mumbai even as the British oil and gas major plans to exit offshore Gujarat block CB-OS/1.

VSNL cards

Mumbai, Feb. 23: Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) is all set to launch telephone calling cards both in the country and at select overseas locations by April this year.
