New Delhi, Feb. 2: A city court on Saturday deferred till February 5 arguments in the Shivani Bhatnagar murder case.
Additional sessions judge J.M. Malik fixed the new date after the prosecution said the special public prosecutor would be unavailable for the day as he was busy in another court.
Former IPS officer R.K. Sharma of the Haryana cadre, Sri Bhagwan, Satya Prakash, Pradeep Sharma, Ved Prakash Sharma and Ved Sharma are facing trial for their alleged involvement in the murder of Bhatnagar, a journalist. All are in judicial custody.
The case came up before Malik after Delhi police filed a chargesheet against the six in metropolitan magistrate J.P. Narayan’s court on October 25.
The police chargesheet alleged two motives for the murder: Bhatnagar threatened R.K. Sharma she would spoil his life and career, and Sharma had passed classified documents on to Bhatnagar when he was officer on special duty in Prime Minister I.K. Gujral’s office which she refused to return to him. The accused have been booked under sections of the CrPC.
