Shantiniketan, Jan. 20: Students of Visva-Bharati’s Uttar Siksha wing boycotted classes after those scheduled to begin from 6.30 am started at the new time of 8.30 am.
The 420 girls and boys of the higher secondary unit said the new timing was a “break from tradition”. Most students who are day scholars said the timing prevented them from attending private coaching classes after school gave over at 12.30 pm.
Uttar Siksha principal H.S. Chakraborty said the school could not overturn the university executive council’s decision taken on January 8.
