January 13 at Rabindra Sadan; 6 pm: The 16th annual classical music conference, hosted by West bengal State Music Akademi in collaboration with Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) concludes today. The line-up for the evening: Drums of India by Mallar Ghosh, Khayal by Koushiki Chakrabarty with Shubhsish Bhattacharya (tabla) and Rupasree Bhattacharya (harmonium). January 18 at Kala Mandir; 9 pm: Sabrang Music Trust hosts Sabrang Sangeet Sammelan, Bade Ghulam Ali Centenary Session. The night-long programme, to be inaugurated by Pandit Ravi Shankar features Shahid Parvez and Rashid Khan (duet), Ajoy Chakraborty, Raza Ali, Mazhar Ali and Jawad Ali (Trio), ‘Taandav’ by Bikram Ghosh with S. Shekhar, V. Suresh, T. Pillai, Dev Shankar and Jyoti Shankar. Accompanists include Samar Saha, Bikram Ghosh, Subhasish Bhattacharya, Roshan Ali, Jyoti Goho and Amitabha Bhattacharya. January 18 at Rammohan Hall, APC Road (Sukiah Street); 5 pm: Murchhana hosts its second annual classical music concert in memory of Sambhu Nath Banerjee. Participants include: Subhash ranjan Kundu, Susweta Banerjee, Debdas Banerjee (vocal), sitar and sarod duet by Rabi Sen and Arko Sen, tabla lahara by Pandit Sundarlal and Lalit Kumar (Benaras) and Kathak dance recital by Shilpi Mukherjee. Accompanists include Rakesh Mishra, Arkendu Mitra, Hrishikesh Jana, Sanat Ghosh (tabla) and Jugal Prasad (harmonium).
