Calcutta: Jamshedpur’s football fans may be in for a treat this year. Arsenal, albeit their under-19 side will be in action in the Steel City if former India coach Anjan Chowdhury’s negotiations with Arsenal bear fruit. Chowdhury has coached the Arsenal juniors.
If confirmed, Arsenal will be among the three foreign teams the Tata Football Academy is planning to host in a five-team under-19 tournament.
Incidentally, Chowdhury, is the brother of present TFA coach Ranjan. According to a TFA official, the tournament was planned for last year itself but could not be held as the All India Football Federation did not give clearance. Other than the three foreign teams, TFA plans to have their own U-19 team and the India U-19 side for the meet.
