January 3 at Nandan III; 5 pm: Bikash Bharati Welfare Society hosts the screening of the documentary film, Jiboner Sandhane (In Search of Life) — a film on substance abuse and HIV/AIDS. January 4 at Nandan II; 6.30 pm: British Council hosts a screening of Road to Ladakh (starring Koel Puri and Irfan Khan), a feature film directed by Ashvin Kumar. The screening will be followed by a short interaction with the director.


Till January 2 at the Publication Division, Sales Emporium, 8, Esplanade East; 10 am - 6 pm: An exhibition-cum-sale of a large collection of books on various subjects including art and culture, biographies, religion and philosophy, science and technology, fiction and history, hosted by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. Till January 5 at Identity Exhibition Gallery, 22, Ballygunge Park Road; 10 am - 8 pm: An exhibition-cum sale of a large collection of Indian and imported books. Till January 22 at The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture; 10 am - 6 pm: An exhibition titled, Shri Krishna — the Prophet of Love and Action.


Till January 15 at Terrace Gardens, Grain of Salt Terrace Banquet; 7 pm: Grain of Salt presents a barbecue extravaganza.


January 2 at The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Shivananda Hall; 5.30 pm : Bina Gupta will speak on Reason and Experience in Advaita Vedanta.


January 2 & 3 at Cossipore Udyanbati; 4 am onwards: The Kalpataru Utsav of Bhagavan Sri Sri Ramakrishna Dev is being celebrated with a host of programme including Bhajans, Kirtans, devotional songs, religious discourses, meetings, instrumental music, classical dance recital, plays and Jatra. January 4 at Kala Mandir; 5.30 pm: Sterling Management presents a cultural programme in aid of Bharat Sevashram Sangha.
