Today at Swabhumi; 6.30 pm: Nondon Bagchi, Gavin D’Cunha and Geffrey Menezes along with the rock group, Skinny Alley, will perform. Dec. 29: Rock band Shiva churns out latest Indian and international hits. Today at Kala Mandir; 6.30 pm: The Tagoreans, a London-based cultural society, in collaboration with Rabir Alo, will present a rendition, Ogo Shono Ke Bajaye based on Tagore’s compositions on flute. Participants include Maya Sen, Bulbul Chowdhury, Pramita Mullick and Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta. Also, felicitation of Professor Somendranath Bandopadhyay and Dr Anup Ghoshal are on the cards. Today at Aban Mahal (CLT) Dhakuria; 5 pm: To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sarada Maa, Sree Satyananda Mahapeeth hosts a cultural programme featuring a musical soiree, Sabar Apan Ma, presented by artistes of Sree Satyananda Sangeetpeeth, classical song by Kaushik Bhattacharya with Susamay Misra on tabla. Also, Archana Pranati, a dance recital by Ashram inmates and a dance drama: Hara-Gouri Milan. December 29 at 23 Pally Durga Mandir Hall, Harish Mukherjee Road; 6.30 pm: Shree Shree Sarada Milan Mala & Baba Alauddin Memorial Committee present an evening of classical music featuring Prabal Choudhury (sitar) and Debshankar Dibedi (dhrupad).


Today at Srijan, 176 Sarat Bose Road; 5.15 pm: Remembering poet Shakti Chattopadhyay. In the first half, some of the poet’s friends including Sunil Gangopadhyay, Tarapada Roy and Utpal Kumar Basu will reminisce about him. In the second half, Padatik Dance Circle will present a choreography by Chetna Jalan which weaves together into a tapestry three of Shakti’s poems.

December 29 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar; 11 am: Professor P.Lal reads Rishi Markandeya’s eulogy of Kartikeya, and Draupadi’s advice to Satyabhama on how to keep a husband happy, in the 160th weekly session of his complete English transcreation of Vyasa’s Mahabharata.
