New Delhi, Nov. 1 (PTI): Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has received the telecom regulator’s approval for slashing night time dial-up access charges for internet connectivity. The reduction in charges was announced by IT and communications minister Pramod Mahajan in October.
BSNL sources said the corporation has received Trai’s approval and is now in the process of finalising a date for bringing the new rates into effect.
“We had earlier decided on November 7 as the effective date for the new internet access rates, but following the quick approval from Trai, we are considering a new date,” sources pointed out.
Mahajan, in October, had announced that BSNL and MTNL would soon seek Trai’s approval for slashing night time (10:30 pm-6:30 am) dial-up charges for Net connectivity by 50 per cent to about Rs 12.50 per hour.
