Calcutta: Jai Prakash Yadav’s century in the ongoing Irani Trophy tie in New Delhi saved his place in the 14-man Indian squad for the first three one-day Internationals.
As expected, the national selectors Thursday picked Sanjay Bangar while dropping Dinesh Mongia from the ICC Champions Trophy squad, India’s last one-day engagement.
All five selectors — chariman Brijesh Patel, Kirti Azad, Kiran More, Sanjay Jagdale and Pronab Roy — along with skipper Sourav Ganguly and coach John Wright were present at the meeting.
Mongia was dropped because of his poor form, of late.
The squad for the rest of the matches in the seven-match series will be selected in Rajkot after the third match in Rajkot.
Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, V.V.S. Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammed Kaif, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Jawagal Srinath, Ashish Nehra, Ajit Agarkar, Jai Prakash Yadav, Sanjay Bangar.
