New Delhi: Indian junior athletes made it big on the second day of the Asian junior athletic championships at Bangkok, winning a gold, a silver and two bronze medals.
The gold and bronze medals were earned in the womenís 400m event with Geetha Sathi coming first in 54.03 seconds ahead of Japanese Asami Tanno (54.72s). Bindu Rani finished in 54.85s to claim the bronze, according to an Amateur Athletic Federation of India release Tuesday.
Sudam Marandi claimed another bronze in 400m with a timing of 47.83s. The gold went to Japanís Yuki Yamaguchi (47.11s) and the silver to Manoj Pushpakumara (47.38) of Sri Lanka.
Suman Devi fetched the silver for India in javelin throw for women clearing 52.33 m behind Chinese Aihua Gergís 54.50m.
However, Sinimol Poulose narrowly missed a medal finishing fourth in the womenís 1500m event. (PTI)
