Calcutta: Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is keen to begin practice from Thursday for the forthcoming third Test against the West Indies. He had suffered an injury on his lower back after colliding with Anil Kumble on the final day of the second Test.
The doubts over his availability for the Calcutta Test were dismissed after an MRI scan on Monday.
Sources close to the captain informed that only a minor injury has been reported and it will be healed with a couple of days of rest.
Keenan pitch inspected
The BCCI’s East Zone ground and pitches committee inspected the pitch at the Keenan Stadium on Monday and expressed satisfaction over the preparation for the one-dayer between India and the West Indies on November 6, adds a PTI report.
Committee member Prabir Mukherjee said that the outfield and practice pitches were also satisfactory but needed proper maintenance.
