Chandigarh: Union sports minister Vikram Verma announced Monday that a sports university in Haryana will be opened in collaboration with Germany.
Verma, while inaugurating the 18th Haryana state games at Hissar, said that the finance ministry had already sanctioned the university for Haryana. He added that 11 projects of the state aimed at the development of infrastructure for sports had also been sanctioned by the sports ministry while 37 other are under consideration.
He further informed that each member of the national kabaddi team that bagged gold at the Busan Asian Games will be awarded with Rs 10 lakh.
The minister went on to add that he will discuss the proposed insurance scheme and rehabilitation of disabled sportspersons with Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
