Kolkatans are no longer allowed inside Manohardas Tarag, the iconic pond opposite Firpo’s Market on Jawaharlal Nehru Road. The state public works department has handed over the water body to Railway Vikas Nigam Limited to facilitate the tunnelling and construction of the Esplanade station for the Joka-Esplanade Metro corridor. The water will shortly be completely drained out
