Actress Parineeti Chopra has dropped fresh behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets of her latest release Amar Singh Chamkila following the film’s April 12 premiere on streaming platform Netflix. Here’s a look at the snaps featuring her co-star Diljit Dosanjh and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali.
The Imtiaz Ali directorial features singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role. The biopic brings to life the captivating story of Chamkila's rise to fame and his eventual demise at a young age. Parineeti Chopra takes on the role of Chamkila’s wife and singing partner Amarjot Kaur.
Parineeti shared a candid picture with filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. The picture shows them filming a scene on a beach.
Dressed in a yellow-and-green suit, Parineeti stood on a balcony to shoot a sequence for the biographical drama.
The storyline of Amar Singh Chamkila illustrates how a young boy of humble origins went on to become one of the most popular folk singers of Punjab. However, the alleged vulgar lyrics of his songs led to violent protests. Ultimately, Chamkila and Amarjot were killed along with two members of their band in an assassination which remains unsolved.
A.R. Rahman has composed the music for Amar Singh Chamkila, which premiered on Netflix on April 12.
Sharing pictures with her co-star Diljit, Parineeti expressed that she was overwhelmed with the positive feedback she received about her performance in the film.
“Curled up in my blanket. Overwhelmed with your words, calls, and movie reviews. (tears are not stopping). “PARINEETI IS BACK.” These words are ringing loud. Hadn’t thought of this. Yes I am back, and not going anywhere,” read Parineeti’s caption on Instagram.
