The Telegraph Online Edugraph in an exclusive chat with Sabyasachi Laskar brings you his journey to reaching the milestone.

“It’s an absolute surreal feeling to be the National Topper and I didn’t expect to be one. I am thrilled and grateful for this achievement. I would like to thank my parents, teachers, relatives, all my extended family members, and of course, my friends because without them life would be miserable. They have acted as my pillars in this journey of fierce competition.”

Asking about his preparation tips, Sabyasachi says, “I have focused on time management a lot because that is quite a challenge when you appear for board exams. With years passing by, the questions are becoming more and more elaborate and for that, you need to strategize your time. Other than that, consistent studying and regular practice helps!”

Asked about his hobby, apart from academics, Sabyasachi says, “It is really important to have a hobby because that helps when you are stressed or in self-doubt. My primary hobby is painting portraits and that kind of keeps me calm and composed.”

As Sabyasachi begins the next chapter of his academic journey, he wishes to qualify for JEE Advanced and get admission to one of the IITs in the country. “My first and foremost plan is to qualify for the JEE Advanced and after that, I will pursue higher studies. I wish to do research in Maths and Physics,” signs off Sabyasachi.

Madhumita Sengupta, Principal of the BDM International extends her congratulations to all the achievers for their stellar performance in the Board Examinations. "I sincerely thank and appreciate our students for putting up their best efforts with utmost dedication, sincerity, and perseverance.

"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the parents, and especially to my entire team of teachers, for their continuous motivation and ceaseless support.

"I would like to make a special mention about our student Sabyasachi Laskar, who has shown an exemplary performance in CBSE class X Examination by securing an overall 100 percent score. His matchless merit coupled with unwavering commitment to all areas of scholastic and co-scholastic interests definitely deserves a special mention. Congratulations, and God bless."
