Jockey D.K Ashish passes away

Jockey D.K. Ashish, who had suffered multiple head and neck injuries, in Calcutta, on Saturday, passed away at about 1am om Sunday/Monday midnight. Ashish was unseated from trainer Bharath Singh's filly, Bold As Brass -- a runner in the Calcutta Oaks' field. He was rushed to the city clinic, Belle View, where he battled for life for nearly 34 hours befote succumbing to his injuries.

MAM Ramaswamy passes away

Calcutta: MAM Ramaswamy, the doyen of Indian racing, passed away on Wednesday evening after a brief illness. He was 84.
