Brickwork Finance Academy Announces Session on Practitioner’s Approach to Equity Valuation: September 15, 2012

Brickwork Finance Academy announces session on “Practitioners’ Approach to Equity Valuation”at its campus in Kalena Agrahara, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, on Saturday, September 15, 2012 between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.

Savings and Investments are the very essence of successful financial planning. It is important that every individual acquires some basic understanding of the financial markets; the types of investment options that are available, the possible risks associated with these and the potential returns that could be earned. Such an understanding not only enables individuals to make informed choices with regard to their hard earned money, but will also help them to retain the “Value of Money”.

Inflation eats into the purchasing power of money over a period of time. If savings and investments do not grow in sync with the rate of inflation, then sustaining a given standard of living is difficult. All long term investment avenues like pension plans, retirement funds, children education plans, balanced funds and equity funds must therefore be chosen as investment options after a careful assessment of individual investors’ needs and his/ her investment horizon.

However, the decision pertaining to what qualifies as a “good” investment or a “bad” investment is not always easy. Markets too are very dynamic and continuous monitoring of fundamental and technical factors is required.

The session on equity valuation is an attempt to address some of the aspects of dealing in the capital markets and would cover the following:
1. Investment Choices available

2. Equity Valuation:
a. Basic Techniques
b. The E-I-C Approach

3. Case Study: finding true value of a company

The session is part of promoting financial literacy and discussions amongst interested professionals.
