The latest trailer of House of The Dragon Season 2, dropped by the makers on Wednesday, promises more dragons, more action and more intrigue with the Blacks, led by Targaryen duo Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Daemon (Matt Smith), ready to invade King's Landing to claim the Iron Throne.

Dropped by Max (formerly HBO Max) on Tuesday, the two-minute-37-second-long trailer continues to set the stage for the impending Targaryen civil war with the Blacks planning an offence against Rhaenyra’s half-brother Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney). Throughout the trailer, there are many clips of the fiery, bloody war to come, along with glimpses of the sprawling landscapes of Westeros, grand palaces and exotic dragons.

While the Greens remain loyal to Aegon and plan a defence, Rhaenyra’s eldest son Prince Jace (Harry Collett) pays a visit to the Wall (a colossal fortification) seeking an alliance with House Stark.

The trailer also captures the rising tension between Rhaenyra and her husband Daemon. “Do you accept me as your queen and ruler?” Rhaenyra asks Daemon but her question is met with silence. Soon Larys Strong’s ominous voiceover is heard warning, “The enemy without may be fought with swords. The enemy within is more insidious.”

Max had previously dropped two trailers for the upcoming House of the Dragon Season 2, asking fans to pick a side in the Targaryen civil war. However, the latest trailer emphasises that neither side is likely to emerge victorious in the impending conflict, as both will endure significant losses due to their thirst for vengeance. Aware of this, Rhaenyra and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) are apprehensive, while Daemon and Aegon eagerly embrace the uprising.

While Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans will return for the second instalment of the fantasy series, new additions to the cast include Gwayne Hightower, Simon Russell Beale, Clinton Liberty, Jamie Kenna, Kieran Bew, Tom Bennett, Tom Taylor and Vincent Regan.

Based on Fire and Blood by George R.R. Martin, this Game of Thrones prequel series premiered on August 21, 2022, laying the groundwork for a devastating war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons.

House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere on Max on June 16.
