Soccer meet in final phase

Guwahati, Sept. 4: The R.G. Baruah Guwahati Sports Association Super Division League is all set for its final phase with the second leg kicking off tomorrow.

Food Corporation of India Sports Club, occupying fifth place, will play bottom-placed Dynamo Club on the first turf of Nehru Stadium tomorrow. In the other match on the second turf, sixth- placed Navajyoti Club will face seventh-placed Sunrise Athletic Club.

In the championship round, table toppers Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club will face fourth-placed Ganga Sports Club on Saturday on ground one, while Green Valley Sports Club, placed in second spot, will play third-placed Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Club on ground two.

In the second round matches of the relegation group, FCI will face Sunrise Athletic Club on ground one on Sunday while in the other match on ground two, Navajyoti Club will play Dynamo Club.

ASEB will face NF Railway on ground one on September 8 while in the other match, Green Valley Sports Club, will play Ganga Sports Club.

In the final matches of the relegation round on September 9, Sunrise Athletic Club will face Dynamo Club, while in the other match, FCI will play Navajyoti Club.

ASEB will play their last match against Green Valley Sports Club on September 10 while in the other match, NF Railway will lock horns with Ganga Sports Club.

School cricket

Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School and South Point School registered wins in their respective matches of the first Padma Saikia and Sandhan Saikia inter-school T-20 cricket tournament at Dispur ground here on today. While Gurukul beat Army School, Basistha by three wickets, South Point got the better of Smriti Academy by six wickets.

Weightlifting meet: The 42nd Assam State Inter-District Weightlifting Championship (junior and senior) will be organised by Sonitpur Body-Building Association from September 26 to 28 at Joymoti Pathar in Tezpur.
