Black Day today

Dhanbad, Aug. 23: The JMM has decided to observe kala divas tomorrow in protest against the booing of chief minister Hemant Soren by BJP workers during a programme attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ranchi on Thursday.

Going a step ahead, a section of JMM leaders today recommended a tit-for-tat tactic to “avenge” the alleged insult of Hemant. State excise minister Jai Prakash Patel and former minister Mathura Prasad Mahto exhorted party workers to give the “same treatment” to all Union ministers visiting the state.

The leaders had assembled at Dhanbad Town Hall for a party workers meeting to discuss preparations for the Assembly elections in districts under North Chotanagpur commissionerate.

But party workers started shouting slogans against the BJP and the Prime Minister. Patel and Mahto joined the chorus, threatening that the party would protest every visit by any central minister.

Citing the incident of Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar who arrived in the state today, Mahto declared that like the steel minister, all Union ministers would would be welcomed with black flags by JMM workers.

Patel said they (BJP) had started it and now all Union ministers should brace for similar jeering by JMM men.

But JMM patriarch Shibu Soren urged party workers to maintain discipline.
