Karate meet from today

Guwahati, Aug. 22: The All Assam Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Association will organise the All India Inter-School and Senior Karate-Do Championship Federation Cup at Deshabhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium here from tomorrow.

Nearly 1,000 participants from 200 schools and 12 states are expected to participate in the championship organised in association with All India Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Federation.

“This is for the first time that Assam will be hosting a tournament of such a stature. The Indian team for the World Seishinkai Open Karate-Do Championship at Japan will be selected on performances in this championship,” said Premjit Sen, coach and judge, World Karate Federation.
