Brand Bihar prod to woo investors
- State to organise event on the lines of India International Trade Fair

Patna, Aug. 22: Former chief minister Nitish Kumar’s “Brand Bihar” dream is set to get industry thrust.

The industries department has planned to play up the Brand Bihar slogan in expos and fairs organised in the country round the year.

The state government is all set to advertise Brand Bihar in the upcoming 14-day India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from November 14.

The state government will also be hosting a fair on the lines of IITF in the current financial year.

“We have always participated in the different expos and trade fairs organised in India and abroad. The idea behind the participation is to inform investors about the state’s industrial scenario and in a way attract investment. The unique Brand Bihar concept talks about the state as a whole. It helps connecting with the Biharis staying in different parts of the world,” a department official said.

Nitish had launched the Brand Bihar initiative on social media earlier this month.

Officials in the JDU said the idea behind Brand Bihar was to connect with the people of the state residing in different parts of the world and bring them on one platform.

Nitish, after launching the initiative on Facebook, extended it further to Twitter and LinkedIn. He also developed the campaign by launching Bihar on Wikipedia last week, where he appealed to the people of Bihar to write about the culture and traditions of the state on Wikipedia.

“Bihar always makes its presence felt in such events by coming up with its pavilions. Any potential investor coming to us are informed about the industry policies of the state, the many avenues and opportunities and the assistance that the government will provide. We will now prepare for something that is more traditional apart from the usual hard industry talks. There are investors who have their roots in Bihar and they want to know about the traditional and cultural aspect of the state in addition to the industrial scenario. They will be told about Brand Bihar and will be requested to join the campaign,” the official added.

On the trade fair on the lines of IITF that will be organised in Patna, another department official said: “The state has participated in several road shows and meetings in different cities of the country. The government has plans to organise a big trade fair on the lines of the IITF in Patna. This will see participation of many industrialists from across the country. It will be organised in the current financial year,” the official said.
