Over to BJP

Ranchi, Aug. 20: A string of JVM leaders, including five MLAs who had earlier announced their decision to join the BJP, completed the formalities at the party headquarters in Ranchi’s Harmu today.

Led by former MP K.P. Sharma, the gang of dissidents described themselves as the “real JVM that merged with the BJP”.

Apart from MLAs Samresh Singh, Phoolchand Mandal, Nirbhaya Kumar Shahabadi, Jai Prakash Singh Bhokta and Chandrika Mahtha, several former JVM executive body members and Congress workers from across the state accepted BJP membership in the presence of party state president Ravindra Rai and former chief minister Arjun Munda.

“I have returned to my old home. The entire country looks up to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a lot of expectations,” Sharma said.

Greeting the old comrades, Munda urged JVM president Babulal Marandi to return home (Marandi had started his political career with the BJP) as well. “I request Babulal Marandi to rise above petty considerations and join the movement to rebuild Jharkhand,” Munda said in all seriousness to rub in the fact that the JVM was in disarray.
