Sharad seal on tie-up till 2015 polls

Patna, Aug. 18: The JDU, irrespective of the bypoll results, would continue its alliance with the RJD till the 2015 Assembly elections, said Dal president Sharad Yadav today who is here for the election campaigning.

On who would be the leader of the grand alliance, the veteran leader said: “Why are you so worried about the leader of the grand alliance? If at all there is a question of a leader then I am the leader of leaders. As far as the question of the alliance with the RJD is concerned, it would continue even for the 2015 Assembly elections. Our alliance is intact.”ť

The question of a leader of the alliance cropped up when chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi had recently said that if the alliance comes to power, Nitish Kumar would be the next chief minister. Later, offended partner RJD termed Manjhi’s comment as pre- mature.

Ever since the JDU, RJD and the Congress came together and formed the “grand alliance” against the BJP-led NDA for the by-elections to 10 Assembly seats, talks over a leader have gained momentum.

Sharad also slammed RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat over his remarks that India is a Hindu nation and Hindutva is its identity.

“Our party knew this very well and that’s the reason we separated from the BJP. They (read the RSS and the BJP) cannot stop talking on such issues,” said Sharad.

Bhagwat was in Mumbai on Saturday to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).

On the other hand, food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak today slammed Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan by calling him a “chameleon” for his comments against former chief minister Nitish Kumar.

He also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should ask his ministers to undergo a lie-detector test.

While addressing reporters at the party office, Rajak said: “I was disappointed when I heard the comment of Ram Vilas Paswan against Nitish Kumar where he said the former CM should have better set up a cycle and school uniform industry instead of distributing among the poor children. How can a person like Ram Vilas be a leader of the Dalits? His thoughts are anti-Dalit. Nitish had started the cycle and uniform scheme for the uplift of the Dalits and the poor. He changes his colour faster than a chameleon.”

He added: “I will request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conduct a lie-detector tests on his ministers, especially Ram Vilas. He will lie every time. Everyone knows that Ram Vilas has made Lok Janshakti Party a Ram Vilas Family Private Company Ltd.”
