Govt announces pension

Guwahati, Aug 14: The state government today announced regular monthly sports pension of Rs 4,000 each for 20 former sportspersons of the state. Besides, one time financial assistance of Rs 40,000 each along with a silver plaque was announced for 20 veteran sportspersons.

Moreover, a one-time award of Rs 1 lakh for lifetime services to sports has been declared to Punilal Das of Nagaon as part of the chief ministerís special assistance.

The beneficiaries: Sultan Ahmed, Nalinaksha Pal Choudhury, Aftab Uddin Barbhuiya, Jiban Phukan, Debashis Roy, Uday Singh Brahma, Mustafa Ahmed and Satyendra Nath Sarma (all football), Dipak Sadhya (cricket and football), Mono Ranjan Das (technical official of football, volleyball), Rupak Kumar Dutta (table tennis and volleyball), Nripen Savapandit and Raghunath Ghosh (technical official of football), Hemendra Nath Gohain (football and volleyball), Abedur Rahman (technical official of kabaddi, handball, kho-kho and organiser), Safiqul Latif Baruah (football, cricket, volleyball and organiser), Thanu Ram Bordoloi, Abdul Jabbar and Ranadhir Nandi (athletics) and Munin Bora (body building).

The beneficiaries of one-time ex gratia for the year 2014-15 are Babul Phukan (posthumously, football), Almustan Choudhury (posthumously, hockey), Pabitra Dutta (posthumously, football, volleyball), Hemanta Gogoi (posthumously, athletics, handball), Biren Chandra Medhi (football and organiser), Dibya Lata Gogoi, Rupali Changmai and Tayabun Nisha (athletics), Ranjan Boruah (badminton, athletics, cricket), Minoo Baruah (table tennis), Mukut Chandra Das and Prabir Kumar Hazarika (cricket), Narayan Chandra Das (volleyball), Kamakhya Das (football and technical official), Pradip Hazarika (technical official of badminton), Sarat Chandra Kalita (volleyball and technical official), Basudev Thakuria (rural and ethnic sports), Agendra Basumatary (athletics, football and technical official), Timir Baran Dasgupta (football) and Phanindra Basumatary (football, volleyball).
